Exhale to Inhale

It is not the bruises on the body that hurt. It is the wounds of the heart and the scars on the mind.

Project Overview

This organization needed to address feedback from donors that the website was out-of-date, information was hard to find and the donation process was out-of-date and cumbersome. As a result, we re-examined the website focusing on a donation flow for this non-profit organization called Exhale to Inhale.

My Role: UX Research / UX Designer. Charged with developing, designing, and delivering all aspects of the design process from problem statement to delivering assets for production.

Timeline: 3-month

The Challenge

To create an intuitive user experience focusing on the donation transaction process for this non-profit.

The goal: To redesign the non-profit organization as a responsive website updating the look and feel, and information architecture, while focusing on the donation flow in the project.

User Research Findings

Summary: 2-Unmoderated Usability Studies were conducted during this project. Each study consisted of 5-participants of men and women ages 40-65 years old with at least one participant with a hearing or visual impairment with experience in volunteering and donating to local non-profit/charity organizations.

Pain Points:
1. Clutter is distracting
2. Frustration is high
3. Options are crucial
4. Confirmation is key

The Design Solution

After talking to current and potential donors, I joined several community events to better understand their challenges. We added QR codes to our marketing and digital experiences. Highlighting our mission and “ways to give” was a key consideration when designing clear, engaging wireframes. Easy and transparent donation confirmation is readily available to complete the donation process.
