Project Overview

The Priorities Report is an annual report developed in collaboration between FCAT’s Research and Design teams focusing on the trends and signals to watch for in emerging technologies and behaviors. In 2024 this report included six chapters and three new visual long-form content “shorts”. With an emphasis on adoption and absorption as we look ahead the Priorities Report serves as a lighthouse for Fidelity’s ecosystem.

My Role: Lead Designer / UX Designer. I was responsible for the end-to-end design process of chapter and short-long form content. By focusing on user needs and leveraging design best practices, I contributed to creating compelling content.

The Challenge

How can we effectively communicate complex ideas and information in a clear, engaging, and accessible manner, while ensuring consistency and brand alignment across various content formats?

The goal: To design and deliver high-quality, user-centered content that enhances reader comprehension, engagement, and overall user experience. By optimizing the design and layout of content, I aimed to create impactful and visually appealing materials that resonate with the target audience utilizing the existing component library for the chapter and adopting new patterns for the new long-form content delivery method within a pre-existing component library.

The Design Solution

To effectively convey the evolving concept of ambition and success within the digital annual report, I collaborated with authors and editors to create a dynamic layout that combines impactful imagery and concise text, employing a consistent color palette and typography to create a cohesive and professional look. By leveraging the digital format, we will incorporate interactive elements, such as animations and videos, to enhance engagement. We also presented data-driven insights clearly and visually appealingly, using charts, graphs, and infographics to highlight key takeaways and trends. We improved content scannability by incorporating clear headings, subheadings, and bullet points. This combination of design strategies created a compelling digital chapter that not only informs but also inspires readers to reimagine their definitions of ambition and success.

Reflections & Learnings

By focusing on a user-centered approach, we were able to create an engaging and informative annual report that effectively communicates complex ideas to a diverse audience.

This project has demonstrated the significant impact of design on internal communication. By improving the readability and engagement of the annual report, we have empowered employees to stay informed about industry trends and make informed decisions.
